Buckle Up - Let's Explore Art - All sorts of Art

What makes art art?  Why do artists create what they create?  

One thing I want to explore is their passion - why get up every day and create?
Another is their inspiration.  From where do their ideas explode into reality?

I've always been creative - I call myself an art hacker - I do many things "good enough" - but when I re-introduced myself to my glass kiln, I fell head over heels, deeply and courageously down that rabbit hole of warm glass - testing the boundaries of not only glass but of myself.  I no longer consider myself a hacker.  I consider myself an artist with much to explore, discover and create.

How Pam Stack, Executive Producer and CEO of Authors on the Air Global Radio Network, and I re-connected is a story in and of itself - maybe we will do an intro broadcast sharing it - or maybe not. Let's see how the stars align.

My goal with Artists on the Air is to explore not only glass artists - and glass art as art, but to share with you various Outsider artists and Art Environments.  Don't fear if you have never heard of an Outsider artist - their art is rarely outside (although sometimes it is).  These are artists who through drive, passion, inspiration, and who knows what or why - chose to create from their heart - not mainstream saleable art but art from their heart.  These are the artists that I'm drawn to.  

I have my own studio in Sheboygan which occupies much of my time, That and the six dogs with whom I share the Enchanted Cottage, our home.  I will be broadcasting in my capacity as a glass artist.  

That being said, I am also grateful to work as a Museum Educator at both the JMKAC and the Art Preserve.

Here I have the opportunity to discover this enchanting world of artists who are, shall we say, not of the norm.   I am excited about sharing them with you - one by one, each month.  

When Pam and I discussed Artists on the Air, I thought - I can do this if my first artist is Justin Favela - Favy Fav.  I love this man - he has such a joyful and affirming joie d'vivre.  Wait until you meet him.  His art is fun - and barrier breaking.  In our chat - we will discuss the barriers he has broken to be world renown as he is.   

We are still in the planning stages, but you can tell how excited I am to share with you this art and these artists.   Such fun.
